By Plane

Typical air travel is into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a global hub of KLM, Air France, and Delta, and is the largest airport in the Netherlands. A direct InterCity train runds from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Enschede Central Station. The trip from Schiphol to Enschede takes about two hours. Schedules and tickets at ns.nl/en. All major rental car companies offer rentals from Schiphol Airport.

Alternatively, one can fly into Dusseldorf Airport, where we advise you to rent a car with a 1.5 hr drive to Twente. Trains take approximately 3.5 to 4 hours via either Arnhem/Deventer/Hengelo or Muenster railway station. Schedules and tickets are available at bahn.de/en.

By Car

The following car rental companies operate out of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National, and Sixt. From Schiphol follow the A4 motorway direction Amsterdam, take A10 ring road direction Hengelo, take A1 direction Hengelo, take A35 motorway towards Enschede. Make sure to take the exit Enschede West from the A35. Follow signs to the University.

Parking is available free of charge at the campus of the University of Twente and at U-Park Hotel.

By Train

International trains run on the Amsterdam-Berlin line 8 times per day with a stop at Hengelo railway station. Thalys runs a service from France and Belgium to Rotterdam and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport with onward connection to Twente. ICE trains run a frequent service from Germany to Arnhem with onward connection to Twente. Enschede, Hengelo, and Enschede Kennispark are connected by InterCity and regional train. Please be aware that different companies are active on the Dutch railway network, being NS and Blauwnet. NS has a nationwide network and Blauwnet runs the regional trains in the Enschede area. You can either purchase a separate ticket for each journey at the train stations to travel with a specific company or purchase an anonymous public transport chip card which allows travelling with all public transport companies. Before travelling you must check in with your ticket or card at a pole and before leaving the station you must check out. Make sure you check in and out at a pole of the same company, a yellow one when travelling with NS and a blue one when travelling with Blauwnet.

Transport in Enschede

By bus:
From Enschede railway station bus 1 runs a service to U-Park Hotel. Bus 9 runs between Enschede railway station and Hengelo railway station and stops at Fletcher De Broeierd Hotel Enschede. It is approximately 10-15 minutes by bus. You can pay your bus ticket with your debit or credit card using contactless payment or use an anonymous public transport chip card (buy at railway stations) to check in when you enter the bus and check out when you leave the bus. Schedules and information public transport are available at http://9292.nl/en. Alternatively, use Google Maps or Apple Maps to plan your journey.

By taxi:
Taxis are available at Enschede and Hengelo railway station. Taxi fare to the hotels is approximately 25-30 euros.
